Up for sale is an AMAZING sounding, concert grade, super rare vintage four-string Domra instrument with highly flame maple back. The instrument was made in 1972 and is in fantastic condition despite its old age!!
The instrument was made by M.Saveliyev (Senior), who was one of the best Shikhovo village luthiers of the late Soviet era. This instrument will outperform 95% of modern instruments in terms of sound quality due to slightly oversized body and naturally aged woods (50+ years old) but it's still eligible to be shipped abroad as it's 48 years from a manufacture date now.
This domra is 100% concert grade instrument with no compromise, the sound is full and open at the same time, with lush overtones and lots of low end on the lowest 4th string.
The construction is rock solid - there are no "breathing" cracks, constructively it's very tight built and you will feel the quality right at the moment when you take it in your hands. The woods used are - spruce top, highly figured maple back and ebony fretboard. The neck is a combination of woods. Inside - there's a label visible that states "Shikhovo Village, M.Saveliyev 1972 and his house number"
This domra was recently inspected by Zubchenko (Tchaikovsky factory luthier) who confirmed that it's a great quality instrument and re-fretted it with modern frets and you can still see the fret metal dust on the photos.
You can definitely perform as a solo artist with this domra. The instrument is 100% ready to play, has low action strings and does not demand any extra investments. All late Savelyev instruments are the highest quality possible and this instrument is not an exception.
This instrument is both a great player and a great investment. Please check the photos to see how accurate the craftsmanship is.
